The School of Economics and Management, formerly known as the Department of Economics and Management, began its preparation in the second half of 2003. In May 2004, it was officially established with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice. In September 2005, the first undergraduate major, International Economics and Trade, began to enroll students. In 2012, it was renamed the School of Economics and Management. After more than 10 years of development, it now has 8 undergraduate majors and two professional master's degree programs, covering economics and management. At present, it has 64 teaching staff and 2300 students. Among them, there are 4 majors in economics, including international economy and trade, economics, economics and finance, and taxation; There are 4 majors in management, including business administration, financial management, auditing, e-commerce and law; The master's degree program of international business was approved in 2017, and enrollment began in the autumn of 2019; The Master of Law and Economics Program was approved in 2019, and enrollment will begin in the autumn of 2021; The master's program of audit was approved in 2021, and enrollment will begin in the autumn of 2023.

Relying on the school running advantages of the school, the college, in line with the school running concept of combining law with business and improving students' practical ability, cultivates compound and application-oriented talents with a solid theoretical foundation of economics and management, as well as certain relevant legal knowledge, which can meet the needs of modern market economy development, have strong social adaptability, solid professional development skills, and innovative spirit and practical ability.

The college attaches importance to the cultivation of students' practical ability, innovation ability and social adaptability. The combination of law and business teaching has obvious characteristics, and the characteristics of diversified practical teaching are prominent. In the teaching plan, a separate optional module of law is listed, which is jointly built with relevant law schools to build a team of teachers integrating law and business. At present, the college has four large laboratories, developed more than 50 school enterprise cooperation practice teaching bases, such as Postal Savings Bank, Qingpu Industrial Park, Zhaoxiang Business District, Wanlian Securities, established strategic cooperation relations with Zhonghua Certified Public Accountants and UnionPay Commerce Co., Ltd., and formed a diversified practice teaching system that includes in and out of class, on campus, guided practice and independent practice.

The CEOs Series Courses jointly offered by the College and senior executives of enterprises, the Securities Investment Simulation jointly offered by the College and Wanlian Securities, and the Cross border E-commerce Practice jointly offered by the College and the Maritime Chamber of Commerce have introduced practice into the classroom and combined off campus practice with on campus theoretical teaching and employment, which has achieved good results; In terms of internationalization, the 3+1.5 master's program with Rennes Business School in France, the 3+1+1 master's program with the University of California Riverside in the United States, and the summer internship program with Christopher Newport University in the United States have created good conditions for students to enhance their employment competitiveness and further study abroad.

In recent years, more than 200 students of the college have won the first and second prizes of various national and Shanghai level competitions, such as National Undergraduate Mathematical Modeling Competition, Challenge Cup National Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, National Foreign Trade Merchandising Skills Competition, National Undergraduate Accounting Informatization Skills Competition, National Undergraduate Sandtable Simulation Competition, etc, Among them, the representative team of our college won the first global prize in the 2020 American College Students Mathematical Modeling Contest. More than 50 students have published academic papers in academic journals or participated in international and domestic academic conferences.
