On the evening of October 27th, the Teaching and Research Section of the International Chinese Language Education of the School of Language and Culture (School of International Exchange) carried out online teaching and research activities for professional academic seminars. The event was hosted by Weng Xiaoling, director of the teaching and research section. Associate Professor Yang Junhong gave a special lecture on "Research on Implementation Difficulties and Countermeasures of Convergence Management for International Students in China".

Yang Junhong first expounded the great significance of developing education for international students in China. She pointed out that education for international students in China is an important way to enhance China's soft power and cultivate international people who "know China", "befriend China" and "love China" and an important part of building the "Belt and Road". Then, she analyzes the implementation background of the convergence management policy. She pointed out that the cause of studying abroad in China has entered a stage of improving quality and efficiency, and the differentiated management model for Chinese and foreign college students implemented by many universities cannot adapt to the current education of international students in China. Yang Junhong analyzed the barriers to the convergence of teaching management from the perspective of foreign students’ teachers. Chinese and foreign students have different admission methods, learning preparations, and Chinese language proficiency, so it is difficult to implement the same assessment standards in academic assessment. The "role absence" of academic Chinese is common in the Chinese curriculum of many colleges and universities, and foreign students lack general academic Chinese ability training, resulting in academic difficulties. In addition, domestic students and international students are not very willing to interact with each other. There are still very few students who are willing to jump out of their "comfort zone" and interact with people from different cultural groups. In the end, Yang Junhong put forward some suggestions: first, reform the Chinese language curriculum for international students and strengthen the construction of general academic Chinese courses for international students; provide study academic support and help; third, mobilize the enthusiasm of Chinese and foreign college students and promote the "two-way convergence" of Chinese and foreign college students.

After the lecture, the teachers in the teaching and research section conducted a discussion on the implementation difficulties of the assimilation management of foreign students in China, hoping to give full play to their professional advantages, integrate team resources, and contribute to the international teaching and management of Chinese in our school.
