On the afternoon of March 20, the 126th session of the SHUPL Overseas Lectures titled Security Issues inPoland-Russia Relations in the 21st Century was successfully delivered by Dr. Rafał Lisieciakiewicz, Associate Professor from Krakow University of Economics, Poland, and hosted by Tan Tan, Vice Dean of the School of Government Management.
Dr. Lisieciakiewicz provided an in-depth analysis through case studies, beginning with foundational concepts and progressing to complex issues. He highlighted that most challenges in Poland-Russia relations stem from asymmetric perceptions of their respective roles and differing views on their influence within international frameworks such as NATO, EU, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). He further elaborated on historical memory, foreign policies, economic and energy strategies, and security dynamics between the two nations. The lecture offered students a vivid case study of real-world geopolitical rivalry.
The event deepened participants’ understanding of security complexities in Poland-Russia relations, reinforcing the relevance of geopolitical studies in today’s interconnected world.
