From April 5 to 9, Professor Mocella Marco and Professor Elena Sychenko from Mercatorum University (Italy) visited Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL).
Professor Ouyang Meihe, Director of SHUPL’s Department of International Cooperation and Exchange welcomed the delegation and highlighted SHUPL’s latest developments in academic programs, global legal education, and international partnerships. He expressed enthusiasm for expanding collaboration with Mercatorum University, particularly in student/faculty exchanges, joint research, and academic mobility programs. Professor Mocella thanked SHUPL for its hospitality and echoed the wish to deepen ties, especially in sustainable development initiatives.
During their visit, Professors Mocella and Professor Sychenko presented the 128th session of SHUPL Overseas Lectures titled The EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive: Key Impacts and Global Ramifications. The lecture covered:
- The directive’s legal framework and enforcement mechanisms;
- Corporate obligations to address human rights and environmental risks in supply chains;
- Practical challenges for multinational enterprises under the new regulations.
Professor Cao Yang, Vice Dean of SHUPL’s School of Economic Law, hosted the session. The lecture fostered active dialogue between presenters and participants.
