一、培养目标
本专业旨在培养德、智、体、美全面发展，具有创新精神和实践能力，具有扎实的英语专业技能、一定的英语专业知识、相当的法律英语能力，能熟练地运用英语在经贸、文化、法律、教育等部门从事翻译、管理、教学、高级助理等工作的德才兼备的复合型、应用型英语人才。
二、培养要求
本专业培养的人才应具有扎实的基本功、宽广的知识面、一定的相关专业知识、较强的能力和较高的素质。在打好扎实的英语基本功和掌握一定的英语专业知识的前提下，拓宽人文学科知识和科技知识，掌握与毕业后所从事的工作有关的专业基础知识，注重培养获取知识的能力、跨文化交际的能力、独立思考的能力和创新的能力， 提高思想道德素质、文化素质和心理素质。
毕业生所应具备的知识和能力：
（一）具有较熟练的英语专业听、说、读、写、译能力，掌握一定的英语语言、文学、文化知识，能够获得从事与英语相关行业工作技能；
（二）掌握与专业相关的学科知识，尤其是法学方面或商务方面的相关知识，形成合理的知识结构；
（三）了解英语国家的社会和文化，学会对西方文化的鉴赏与思考，具有一定的思辨能力；
（四）具有计算机应用与操作的基本技能，以及一定的数据处理与分析能力，具有较强的办公自动化处理技能；
（五）掌握文献检索、资料查询的基本方法，具有一定的科研和实际工作应变能力；
（六）掌握论文写作的基本格式和规范，能顺利完成特定的或自由的篇章写作。
三、主要课程
综合英语、高级英语、英语听力、高级听力、英语口语、英语写作、翻译理论与实践、法律文本翻译、法律英语、中级口译、高级口译、语言学概论、英国文学、美国文学、学术论文写作、商务英语翻译与实践等。学生还可以跨专业选修其他专业的开放选修课，包括法律类、经管类、新闻类等专业的课程。
四、主要实践性教学环节
主要包括军训、社会调查、专业见习、毕业实习、毕业论文等教学环节。
五、修业年限与毕业学分
修业年限：基本学制四年，实行弹性学制，可延长至六年。
最低毕业学分：172分。
六、授予学位
文学学士学位。

Description of English Major Program
I. Objectives
The Program aims to cultivate the application-oriented English graduates who have a solid ground in English, master some knowledge on law, achieve an all-round development in morality, intelligence and physique, and are capable of adapting themselves to society's needs. Inter-disciplinary and application-oriented, they will, upon graduation, skillfully apply what they have learned in such areas as translation, management, education, business, foreign trade and cultural exchange.
II. Requirements
The students should have a solid foundation in English, a broad scope of mind, some interdisciplinary knowledge correlated with English, various capabilities and accomplishments. On the premise of solidly mastering English, they should broaden their knowledge of humanities and law, know something related to their future work, and excel at acquiring knowledge, thinking independently and innovatively, and improving their ideology, morality, mentality and practical skills.
The graduates are required
to master the basic knowledge and skills of the English language.
to grasp some interdisciplinary knowledge correlated with English, especially that of law, business and foreign trade so as to quickly adapt themselves to the market's needs.
to understand the English speaking countries’ culture and social norms, and learn to critically appreciate the Western culture.
to become proficient in computer skills, data analysis and office automation.
to be familiar with the basic ways and means of document retrieval and data inquiry, and have the capability of academic research and the flexibility in handling actual work.
to learn the formats and rules of various academic writings.

IV. Application-oriented Teaching and Learning
Military training, social investigation, professional practice, field work, graduation paper writing, and so on.
