International Politics (Undergraduate)


The International Politics major is a highland of undergraduate education in Shanghai, with distinct educational characteristics. It is committed to providing intellectual support and think tank research for national strategic platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Base in China.


Training objective: To cultivate senior talents with an international perspective, a systematic grasp of the basic theories of international politics, an understanding of the operational laws of the international system, legal expertise, familiarity with China's laws and related policies, strong international communication skills, and the ability to engage in diplomacy, foreign affairs, foreign propaganda, education, management, and other related work.


The main courses of the major include international law, international organizations, contemporary international relations, international relations theory, international political economy, international current affairs analysis and reporting, international negotiations, etc.


Degree awarded: Bachelor of Laws


Employment prospects: With the continuous deepening of China's internationalization level, the social demand for political, economic, and foreign affairs talents with certain foreign management and research capabilities is increasing, and the development prospects are promising. The students trained in this major have distinctive characteristics, strong international communication skills, and obvious competitive advantages. They are oriented towards party and government agencies, foreign affairs departments, news and publishing, industrial and commercial enterprises, education and scientific research units, engaged in foreign affairs diplomacy, management, consulting, secretarial work, publicity, research, teaching, and other work.
